Public buses run throughout the various districts and are an economical way to get around. Licensed buses have blue license plates and you can pay the fare in either US or Cayman Islands dollars. The main bus terminal is on Edward Street, in George Town and is adjacent to the Public Library. Fares start at CI$1.50, approximately US$1.80.
Daily service commences around 6:00 am and the frequency of buses ranges from every 15-60 minutes. Most buses run until between 9:00pm and 11:00pm Sunday thru Thursday, and until midnight on Friday and Saturday, depending on the route.
There are many bus stops throughout the island and buses can also be flagged down from the side of the road, anywhere along their route.
