The Cayman Islands feature some of the most attractive postage stamps as acknowledged by collectors all over the world. New releases, which number between 4 and 6 issues per year, are always eagerly awaited.
The post offices around the islands sell stamps at face value and in mint condition. Purchases can be made at stamp counters at any of the Cayman Islands post offices or by post from the Philatelic Bureau.
Commemorative stamp sets are released 4 to 6 times per year and mark important national, regional or international events or themes. Definitive stamp sets contain stamps in approximately 12 denominations and remain on sale for five years. The most recent definitive features the marine life of the Cayman Islands and was released in 2012.
The stamp featured on this page (Jeweled Pomander and Porkfish) is from the 1974 definitive set and it was withdrawn from sale shortly after being issued. It was replaced by an 8-cent version with the same design.
